Wharton alumni are invited to attend a special performance at the Wortham Center! Houston native, John Axelrod is the guest conductor for the Downtown Series Kick-off concert at the Wortham Center on Saturday, October 8th, and all Wharton alumni and their guests are being offered a 50% discount on seats at the Saturday performance (see ticket link & details below or just call our rep, Arely at 318-816-2278 for your tickets)! This is John's first performance appearance in Houston in over twenty years. He is returning to guest conduct a program he's designed as "a gift to the community he loves." You will enjoy a unique performance of music that deals with some of the most profound human emotions: a deeply moving "musical love letter" from Mahler to his beloved wife, Leonard Bernstein on the true nature of love, and Ives asks deeper questions of existence itself. Haydn's "Philosopher" symphony rounds out the program.
