Join us in person on Tuesday, November 2nd for the opportunity to engage with an experienced panel of Directors as they share with us the key skills and insights beneficial to every first-time Director. If you are seeking your first Directorship; have just been offered one; or are currently a Director and want to gain additional insights, this panel will offer their expertise regarding what you need to know to prepare yourself and to contribute the greatest value in this new role.

Our panelists possess experience across multiple industries; and with large and small companies, both public and private.  While this will be a moderated discussion, we will have plenty of time to entertain your questions as well.

About the Panelists:

Lori Auray Gobillot has a diverse business and legal background combining significant experience in transportation, energy, real estate and regulated industries with special expertise in executive compensation, mergers and acquisitions, post-merger integration, corporate governance, corporate restructuring, crisis readiness and response, and ESG.  

Lori currently serves as an independent director of Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P. (Compensation Committee, Nominating and Governance Committee) and Republic Airways Holdings (Chair, Compensation Committee), she served on the Board of Bristow Group, Inc., and serves on the Board of non profit Agape Development CDC, developing housing south of Houston's Third Ward.  She brings significant committee leadership in executive compensation and corporate governance, succession planning and corporate restructuring.  Lori is a Member of Women Corporate Directors, is designated a Board Leadership Fellow by the National Association of Corporate Directors, and is a regular attendee and speaker at Board development and leadership programs. 

Lori served as Vice President, Integration Management at United Airlines where she led the company's merger integration planning and implementation following the Continental - United Airlines merger.  Previously she was Assistant General Counsel and held various senior roles interfacing with Board of Directors, in Legal and Corporate Real Estate at Continental.  Prior to joining Continental, Lori was a senior associate with Vinson & Elkins where she represented clients focused on real estate development and financing.  Before attending law school, she developed commercial real estate with Trammell Crow Company, and was a consultant with Arthur Andersen.

 

Patti Melcher is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of EIV Capital, LLC, a private equity form that provides growth capital across the energy value chain with ~$1.8 billion AUM.  Patti has over 30 years experience in the energy industry.

She began her career as an investment banker with Simmons & Company in 1986 and then joined SCF Partners, an oilfield service focused private equity fund, upon its formation in 1989.  In 1997, she formed Allegro Capital Management to provide investment management and consulting services in the energy industry and in the same year co-founded The Joy School, a non-profit school to serve children with learning differences, where she served as president and board chair until 2005.

In 2009, Patti co-founded EIV Capital to provide equity growth capital to traditional midstream infrastructure projects as well as investments in renewable fuels and emissions reduction focused companies.  She is responsible managing the firm and its investment program ans serves on the boards of EIV Capital portfolio companies.  Patti continues to be active in the non-profit community in Houston and currently serves as a Pro Tempore Advisor of the University of Virginia School of Engineering.  She received an MBA from Harvard University and a BS in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia.

 

 

Jack Moore (AMP 2007)

Jack Moore most recently served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Cameron International Corporation from April 2008 to October 2015 and served as Chairman of the Board of Cameron from May 2011 until it was acquired by Schlumberger in 2016.  Jack joined Cameron in 1999 and, prior to that, held various management positions at Baker Hughes, where he was employed for over 20 years.  Jack serves on the Board of Directors of Occidental Petroleum Company, where he serves as Vice Chair and Chair of the Compensation Committee, KBR, Inc., where he serves as Chair of Compensation committee; and ProPetro Holdings, where he serves as Chair of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.

Jack currently serves as a University of Houston Systems Board of Regent and actively serves in leadership positions with the American Heart Association and Memorial Assistance Ministries.

Jack is a graduate of the University of Houston with a B.B.A. degree and attended the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.

 

Suzanne Nimocks (MBA 1987),

Suzanne Paquin Nimocks has a decade of boardroom experience.  She is a member of the Board of Directors for ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steel company based in Luxembourg; Owens Corning, a Fortune 500 building products company based in Toledo, Ohio; and Ovintiv (formerly Encana), a North American oil and natural gas exploration company based in Denver.  Suzanne is Lead Independent Director for the Owens Corning Board and chairs the Nomination and Governance Committee and is the former chair of the Finance Committee.  Suzanne chairs the Corporate Responsibility and Governance Committee for the Ovintiv Board.

She is a former board member of Valaris plc (formerly Ensco Rowan and Rowan Drilling Company) and for private equity backed Axip Energy Services.  She formerly chaired the Compensation Committees for Valaris and Ovintiv and the Health Safety and Environment Committee for Rowan Drilling.  She has led both CEO succession planning process and the Board refreshment process for multiple boards. Suzanne is a Senior Advisor to McKinsey & Company.

Suzanne retired in July 2010 as a Senior Partner in McKinsey & Company's Houston office.  Since joining the Firm in 1989, she served clients in energy, logistics, insurance, manufacturing, healthcare, and professional services industries on a broad range of strategy, corporate finance, business building, portfolio management, operations organization, and risk management-related issues.  She served as Houston Office Managing Partner, several practice leadership roles, and on most of the Firm's global personnel committees.
