A bit more about our panelists:
Barry Kessler has been with Simmons Energy, A Division of Piper Sandler since 2008, focused exclusively on the energy services and equipment sector. Previously, Kessler worked for TAC, a building automation and energy management subsidiary of Schneider Electric, and also Piper Sandler industrial and consumer investment banking groups. Kessler holds an MBA from Mendoza College of Business at University of Notre Dame, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University. He serves as a member of the MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Advance Team.
Gleeson Van Riet is a Managing Director of Crossroads Strategic Advisors, an Energy restructuring firm. Previously he served as CFO for two NYSE-listed E&P companies, SilverBow Resources and Sanchez Energy. At these two companies, he collectively oversaw $3.6 billion of capital expenditures (D&C and A&D) and evaluated over 350 A&D transactions. He began his career as an investment banker at Credit Suisse and DLJ where he completed over 100 transactions spanning M&A, debt, equity and restructuring across 14 countries. A native Houstonian, Mr. Van Riet graduated with an MBA from Harvard Business School and earned a BS in Finance from Wharton. He serves on the board of directors for CanCare, Inc. (www.cancare.org).
Renju Jose Kuruvila is President of M/D Totco, a division of NOV (NYSE: NOV), a leading provider of equipment and technology to the energy industry with operations in more than 60 countries. Prior to his current role, Renju undertook mergers and acquisitions for NOV and was involved in 100+ transactions around the world. He was most recently Vice President, NOV Ventures where he held global responsibility over joint ventures, alliances and investments in early stage technologies. Renju joined NOV in 2002. He has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and an MS in Manufacturing Systems from the University of Texas at Austin, and an MBA from The Wharton School. He is also a CFA Charterholder. Prior to moving to the United States for his education, Renju managed his family’s natural rubber plantation business in India. Renju currently sits on the Boards of NOV’s joint venture with Schlumberger called IntelliServ and with Saudi Aramco, called ARM. He is also a member of the Board of the Houston Area Parkinson Society.
